Dr. Sharma, Assistant Professor, has done his B.E in mechanical engineering from Agra University in 2002. He is M.Tech (2009) and Ph.D from Applied Mechanics Department of IIT Delhi. His research area includes Finite Element Simulation (FEM) and mechanics of biological and functionally graded materials.

The other challenging fields of mechanical engineering such as complexity of mechanical behavior of materials, requirement of mechanical characterization using latest testing techniques and investigation on smart materials are also the areas of current research interest. Studies on micro-fracture mechanics of functionally graded materials is another important and interesting field of research for the development of improved and novel materials for different complex engineering environment.

He has published 10 research papers in international journals and conferences.. He has five years of teaching experience in different engineering colleges.

In 2008 at IIT Delhi, he was in design team of an Amphibian Cycle named 'Crazy Frog' which was well appreciated by the media. In 2011, he was awarded Research Scholar Travel Award (RSTA) from Industrial Research and Development Unit (IIT Delhi) to present his research paper at Imperial College, London, U.K. In the same year he was awarded the best student paper award during World Congress on Engineering (WCE) at Imperial College, London, U.K. In 2012 he was awarded for Young Scientist Travel Grant from DST (Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India) to present his research paper at University of California (UC) Berkeley, San Francisco, USA.
